The Ask
A long time global bank client of Second Line Advisors desired to enhance their financial crime risk expertise at the 1st line level, while also bringing on a new leader for the private bank division regionally. This new control and financial crime risk leader would take responsibility for the regulatory steering and management of Non-Financial Risks for the private bank in the Americas and have functional responsibility for enhancing the financial crime risk framework and execution for the business division worldwide.
The Process
Second Line Advisors presented a diverse slate of candidates with 1st and 2nd line experiences from a range of competitors screened and ready to be interviewed.
The Result
The client hired a hands-on AML officer with less private bank experience than other candidates in the slate. However, the executive had the deep domain expertise in financial crime and 2nd line experience which they viewed as valuable.
